Caps from Lithuania will warm children of Ghowr 2009.08.07
  August 6, organisers of the „Warm caps for Afghan children" campaign - Lithuanian Provincial Reconstruction Team 10 (PRT-10) and members of territorial sections of „Caritas" in Lithuania in Šventoji resort. They met to discuss the campaign that started this week inviting people of Lithuania to knit caps for winter season for children of Ghowr province.

 August 5, Vice Minister of National Defence of Lithuania Vytautas Umbrasas met with Georgian Deputy State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Helen Khoshtaria on visit in Lithuania. Meeting officials discussed issues of Georgian-NATO cooperation during a working dinner: progress made in preparation and implementation of the national programme of Georgia, activity of NATO-Georgia Council, bilateral cooperation with the Allies. |

Staff training of BALTBAT take place in Rukla 2009.08.04
 On August 4-6 Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian members of the Baltic Battalion staff will exercise in the Lithuanian Grand Duke Algirdas Mechanised Infantry Battalion (Rukla, Jonava Distr.). Purpose of the exercise is to improve operational planning skills of BALTBAT staff following the order of military decision making process. Changes of standard Battalion's procedures will be introduced to the staff personnel and lessons learnt in the „Baltic Eagle 09" exercise (the exercise took place in Adaži Military Area, Latvia, on June 2009) will be analysed. |

Pieces of Afghan women's needlework displayed for Lithuanian audience 2009.08.03
 Mobile exposition „Pažvelk - Afganistanas arti. Padėk - tu gali" („Look, Afghanistan is near - you can help too") of needleworks of Afghan women, artefacts found by Lithuanian archaeologists in Ghowr and photo and video material produced by the Lithuanian-led PRT will be displayed in the major cities of Lithuania to help society establish personal connection with the peacekeeping mission and the country itself.
