Lithuanian military take part in celebratory events for the 18th anniversary of Independence Restoration

imgMarch 11 is the 18th anniversary of restoration of Lithuania's independence. The event will be marked by solemn line formation in subdivisions of Lithuanian Armed Forces, raising of the national flag, concerts, film reviews, and expositions, meritorious civilian and military personnel will receive awards.

Chief Executive of the European Defence Agency visit National Defence Ministry

Chief Executive of the European Defence Agency Alexander Weis with delegation will visit National Defence Ministry, March 6-7. EDA delegation will familiarise with Lithuanian defence issues and hear Lithuania's opinion about the Agency's activities. A. Weis was appointed as EDA chief executive in the end of 2007; this trip is his first visit to Lithuania in the new position and part of cognitive tour around capitals of the EU members involved in EDA activity.

Celebration of the 90th anniversary of Brig. Gen. Adolfas Ramanauskas-Vanagas at National Defence Ministry

The celebration will be attended by the National Defence Vice-Minister Antanas Valys, ministerial undersecretaries, leadership of armed forces, relatives of Brig. Gen. Adolfas Ramanauskas-Vanagas and other guests.

On March 4-5 MoND Undersecretary Renatas Norkus-led delegation of National Defence and Foreign Affairs ministries of Lithuania is taking part in consultations held in Rome (Italy) for countries leading provincial reconstruction teams in western provinces of Afghanistan.
