Georgian Minister of Defence to pay a visit to Lithuania

On Monday, 12 June the Georgian Minister of Defence Irakli Okurashvili arrives on an official two-day visit to Lithuania. On 12 June, the Georgian Minister of Defence is scheduled to meet with the Lithuanian Minister of National Defence, Gediminas Kirkilas and Commander of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, Major General Valdas Tutkus. The meeting is expected to focus on Georgia's Euroatlantic integration aspirations, internal situation and relations with neighbouring countries, exchange opinions about the course of defence reform, prospects of bilateral co-operation between Lithuania and Georgia in the field of defence.

Lithuanian MoND State Secretary to attend a meeting of NATO Ministers of Defence

On Thursday, 8 June, the State Secretary of the Lithuanian Ministry of Defence Valdemaras Sarapinas and him accompanying delegation will take part in a meeting of NATO Ministers of Defence in Brussels, Belgium.
The meeting is expected to focus on the course of NATO transformation, the Alliance-led operations in Iraq, Kosovo, Afghanistan and preparations for the upcoming meeting of NATO Heads of State and Government in Riga, Latvia.

The first Lithuanian Defence Attaché accredited to Romania

On Tuesday, 6 June, in Bucharest, the first Lithuanian Defence Attaché Lieutenant Colonel Virginijus Vilkelis was accredited to Romania. During the accreditation ceremony Lt Col Vilkelis met with the Romanian Minister of Defence Teodor Atanasiu, as well as with Romanian military representatives.
The Lithuanian Defence Attaché to Ukraine, Moldova and Romania is based to Kiev, Ukraine.

US Ambassador to Lithuania to receive National Defence System Medal for Merits

On Monday, 5 June the outgoing US Ambassador to Lithuania HE Stephen Mull will be awarded the Lithuanian Defence System's highest level decoration for civilians-- Medal for Merits. An official award ceremony will be attended by the leadership of the National Defence Ministry and Armed Forces.
