Commander of the Lithuanian Armed Forces to attend meeting of EU Military Committee 2005.04.08

Lithuanian warship to attend NATO exercise in the Baltic Sea 2005.04.08
![]() On 11-29 April the mine-hunter, M-52 Suduvis, of the Lithuanian Naval Force will attend the NATO complex exercise Loyal Mariner (Blue Game) '05 that will be conducted in the Baltic Sea. The series of the Blue Game exercise on crisis reaction is held in the Baltic and North Sea every year. This is a large-scale international exercise designed to evaluate the level of preparedness of ships and their crews. The tasks of the Lithuanian vessel that will attend the exercise will include searching for, identifying and neutralisation of dangerous objects in the sea.
Some 50 warships from over 15 nations will take part in the complex exercise this year. The exercise will also involve military aircraft and helicopters. |

NATO Allied Land Component Command Deputy Commander visiting Lithuanian Land Force 2005.04.07
![]() On 7 April NATO Allied Land Component Command Heidelberg Deputy Commander Lieutenant General Karl Heinz Lather was with a visit to the Lithuanian Land Force.
The NATO Allied Land Component Command Commander Deputy Commander's meeting with the Commander Lithuanian Land Force Brigadier General Arvydas Pocius focused on the ongoing reforms in the Land Force, further development of capabilities. The meeting also addressed a military exercise, which is scheduled to take place in autumn through winter later this year. The exercise will be designed to evaluate preparedness levels of Lithuanian military units assigned to NATO operations. |

National Defence Minister Gediminas Kirkilas to pay a visit to Armenia 2005.04.04
![]() On Monday, 4 April Lithuanian Minister of National Defence Gedminas Kirkilas and him accompanying delegation will leave for a two-day visit to Armenia.
An agenda for the first visit day (5 April) is scheduled to include G. Kirkilas' meeting with the Armenian Minister of Defence Serzh Sargsyan. The ministerial meeting is likely to address a bilateral co-operation in the field of defence, prospect of multinational and regional military co-operation, NATO enlargement processes, reform of the armed forces and participation in international operations.
The visit agenda also includes a visit to the War Institute, meeting with leadership and training panel of the Institute. Later in the day the Minister is also scheduled to pay a visit to Echmiatsin to meet the Cathalicos of All Armenians, His Holiness Garegin II. |

Delegation of Lithuanian Ministry of Defence to attend consultations between the Baltic States and the US 2005.04.01
![]() Between 4-5 April Undersecretary of the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defence Renatas Norkus and a ministerial delegation headed by him will be in Garmisch, Germany, to attend a quadruple political-military consultations between Defence Ministries of the Baltic States and the United States, which will be held for the first time. The consultations will focus on defence reforms in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and the US, a quadruple co-operation, NATO transformation. The Baltic and US working groups are expected to address participation in international operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. |
