Victims of tsunami to be remembered at the Ministry of National Defence 2005.01.05
![]() To commemorate the victims of the tsunami on south east Asia the national flag of Lithuania will be flown at half-mast at the Ministry of National Defence on Wednesday 5 January at 1200 hrs. The management of the Ministry of National Defence invites the Ministry's employees in solidarity with the people of the affected countries to observe three-minute silence to pay their respects to victims of the tsunami. |

Lithuanian army's water purification unit to start mission at NATO's spearhead 2005.01.03
![]() Vilnius, 3 January 05, BNS - Fifteen troops of Lithuania's Marijampole-based Grand Duke Vytenis General Logistics Battalion are starting their mission in the NATO Response Force (NRF). The water purification unit and equipment will be Lithuania's first contribution to the NFR's fourth six-month cycle. Specialists who are starting their service on 14 January will be ready for redeployment to any location of NATO's operations within 5-30 days. NRF will be activated by a decision from the North Atlantic Council and dispatched to eliminate a crisis that would jeopardize international stability and the North Atlantic Alliance. |
