Commanding General United States Army, Europe and Commander, NATO Joint Command, Centre is visiting Lithuania 2004.08.11
![]() Between 12-13 August, Commanding General United States Army, Europe and Commander, NATO Joint Command, Centre General B. B. Bell will be on a visit in Lithuania.
During the visit, General Bell will be accompanied by Lieutenant Colonel F. Lissner, USAREUR's Chief for Co-operation, Accession and Integration and other officers serving with the Command. Commander of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, Major General Valdas Tutkus and Commander of the Lithuanian Land Forces Brigadier General Arvydas Pocius will brief the delegation on the Lithuanian Armed Forces and the country's military engagements abroad. |

Sea survival exercise Baltic Bikini 2004 to start in the Baltic Sea 2004.08.02
![]() On Tuesday, 3 August an international sea survival exercise Baltic Bikini 2004 is starting on the Lithuanian Baltic Sea coast. The international air force exercise will involve some 500 troops from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Denmark. During the exercise the troops will train how to manage to survive after aircraft crash landing on the water and how to use buoyant jackets, belts, or other like device for keeping themselves afloat. |

RESCUER/MEDCEUR Active Phase Launched with Chemical Explosion 2004.07.27
![]() On July 26, Monday, 50 people were injured during a chemical explosion at Klaipeda industrial enterprise. The explosion is suspected to be a terrorist act. That was the beginning of the active phase of the international combat exercises RESCUER/MEDCEUR'04. All the casualties with chemical burns, fractures, and torn off limbs were taken to the medical unit of international task forces, deployed in Kairiai training area. After the primary inspection the casualties with complicated injuries were carried by military and civil transport to Klaipeda County Hospital. The most badly injured were transported with the help of rotary wing medical evacuation assets of Lithuanian and Romanian Air Forces to Klaipeda Seamen Hospital. |

President's Visit to RESCUER/MEDCEUR'04 exercises 2004.07.23
![]() On July 23, Friday, the military medical science teleconference will conclude the first theoretical part of the RESCUER/MEDCEUR exercises. July 26-28, at Kairiai Training Area, Klaipeda, the active phase of the exercises will be taking place. The practical tasks will imitate true-to-life extreme situations during which disaster response works and provision of medical help to the casualties will be practiced. On July 28 to observe the exercises will come: the President of the Republic of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus, the Member of the Parliament Eigdijus Skarbalius, the Minister of the National Defence Linas Linkevicius, the Commander in Chief of the Lithuanian Armed Force MG Valdas Tutkus, Armed Forces Commanders, representatives of the embassies, military attachƩs, as well as the Klaipeda City Major Rimantas Taraskevicius, and director of the Klaipeda City Hospital Vincas Janusonis. |
