Air-police functions in the Baltic States to be taken over by Danish personnel2004.06.30

On Thursday, 1 July a change of NATO forces ceremony will be held at Zokniai Air Base when the Danish military forces will take over control of the Baltic airspace.
A three-month mission in the Baltic region will involve five F-16 fighters, 6 pilots and over 60 maintenance personnel of the Danish Armed Forces. Up till now the Baltic air space from the Zokniai Air Base has been controlled by four F-16 fighters and some 50 troops of the Belgian Air Force.
NATO rapid reaction force has been deployed to Lithuania to patrol airspace of the Baltic states on 29 March earlier this year. ![]() |
