In the afternoon of 8 May, a Lithuanian peacekeeper serving in Iraq near Basra suffered minor injuries.

The soldier suffered a leg injury while he was on patrolling.

The injured soldier has been taken to a British military hospital near Basra. His health status is stable with no threat to his life. The incident was reported to the injured soldier's parents.

Investigation into the incident is currently underway.

On Friday, 7 May National Defence Minister Linas Linkevičius is leaving for Berlin to attend an International Workshop on Global Security. The 21st Workshop on Global Security will involve well-known policy makers, diplomats, high-ranking officers, analysts from centres of strategic studies.

On Monday, 10 May, Acting President of the Republic of Lithuania Artūras Paulauskas will be visiting NATO forces deployed at Zokniai airport, near the northern city of Siauliai.

During the visit, the Acting President Artūras Paulauskas will be accompanied by National Defence Minister Linas Linkevičius and Commander of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, Major General Jonas Kronkaitis.

 On 6-7 May Under-Secretary of Lithuanian Ministry of National Defence, Jūratė Raguckienė, will be attending NATO Conference of National Armaments Directors (CNAD), which will be held in Brussels, Belgium.

The Lithuanian national defence senior official will attend the meeting as a representative of a full member state of NATO.

On Thursday, 6 May a four-day international Christian cadet conference will bring together cadets from Lithuania and other countries conference. The conference will take place at a campsite of Jesuit High School in Guopstai village, Vilnius region.
