Lithuanian Armed Forces send humanitarian aid to Afghan people 2010.03.24

The assets will be delivered to institutions of the Government of Afghanistan and passed on to institutions of Ghowr and Zabul provinces where the humanitarian assistance will be distributed to the most impoverished local citizens.

NATO countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding on generation of multinational logistic unit 2010.03.24

By the MoU the countries aim at generating and sustaining a multinational joint logistic unit capable of conducting movement coordination in operational theatres as part of multinational forces and which would be deployable to NATO operations mandated by the United Nations Security Council. Objective of the joint unit of NATO nations is to be ready for deployment to the theatre of operation together with forces of any of NATO nations and to provide support of movement control during stages of deployment, sustainment, re-deployment and integration of elements of operation.

![]() March 18, Chief of Defence of Lithuania Maj. Gen. Arvydas Pocius currently conducting a visit at the camp of the Lithuanian-led Provincial Reconstruction Team of Chaghcharan unveiled memorial plaque for Lithuanian serviceman Sgt. Arūnas Jarmalavičius killed on duty almost three years ago.
The memorial plaque of Lithuanian oak put in the place were Sgt. A. Jarmalavičius was killed bears the following words in Lithuanian and English: „Lithuanian serviceman Sgt. Arūnas Jarmalavičius was killed here on 22 May 2008". |

USA and Lithuania signed a Memorandum of Understanding for location of US Government personnel with Chaghcharan Provincial Reconstruction Team 2010.03.19
![]() March 19, Commander of the Lithuanian-led PRT-10 Military Unit Col. Gediminas Macijauskas and Assistant Chief of the US Mission in Kabul, Afghanistan, Ambassador Joseph Mussomeli signed a Memorandum of Understanding regarding logistic support to US Mission personnel to be located in installations of the Lithuanian-led PRT-10 of Ghowr.
The signed MoU sets and specifies provision of supplies necessary for work, life support and accommodation, medical and other services, as well as terms of subordination, security and reimbursement for the US Mission personnel located at Ghowr PRT-operated facilities. Agreements regulating financial, logistic and financial issues are signed when representatives of one nation operate in military bases of another nation in the operation region and use their support and infrastructure. Thus far both military and civilian US personnel participating in the Lithuanian-led PRT mission was regulated by an agreement of the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defence and the United States Department of Defence. |

BALTBAT exercise „Intelligent Eagle 10 2010.03.19
![]() March 22-26, soldiers of Lithuanian and Estonian Armed Forces commissioned to the Baltic Battalion will take part in BALTBAT exercise for staff and platoon commanders' „Intelligent Eagle 10" hosted by Lithuania.
In the exercise command and control procedures and interoperability of the Battalion's units will be drilled. The majority of Lithuanian soldiers in the exercise will be sent by the Lithuanian Grand Duke Algirdas Mechanised Infantry Battalion. |

Final planning conference of the international „Baltic Host 10 2010.03.18
![]() March 18, three-day final planning conference of the international „Baltic Host 10" exercise ended in General Jonas Žemaitis Lithuanian Military Academy.
During the conference structure, scenario and evaluation criteria of the exercise were approved and the main events in the exercise generated. The exercise „Baltic Host10" will take place on May 31 and June 4 of this year in the three Baltic States.
Over 60 participants of the final conference were not only representatives of Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia, but also officers from Denmark, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, and the USA. Members of NATO and EUCOM (United States European Command) were also present in the final planning event. |

Unrest in Chaghcharan prison suppressed 2010.03.18

The unrest broke out because of prisoners' discontent with transfer of an inmate sentenced to the death penalty for homicide to another jail, according to ANP officers. |
