Lithuanian peacekeeper suffered light injury in south Afghanistan

In the morning of July 7 member of the Tactical Air Control Party was lightly injured in Helmand province, south of Afghanistan.

 

He was injured in a incident when a grenade was thrown at the unit conducting patrol. Fragment of the grenade hit the soldier in the leg causing a light injury.

 

The soldier was evacuated to the base where military medics rendered first aid. His life is not at risk and he is expected to rejoin the lines within a week.

 

Relatives of the servicemember have been notified about the incident.

 

Lithuania deployed Tactical Air Control Party in composition of the Danish Division to NATO mission in the south of Afghanistan in 2008. The goal of the unit is to coordinate air attacks on ground forces.
